Getting started with SAVR TPMS
What's in the box?
Every SAVR pack includes the sensors, one anti-theft nut per sensor, a fixing tool, a One-Click Pairing QR card and a quick start card. Batteries come pre-installed. Packs are available from 2 to 16 sensors, and any pack can be expanded later.
What's the quickest way to get set up?
- Download TPMS Connect and add your vehicle under Profiles — choose the type, name it and pick how many wheels to monitor.
- Pair the sensors: One-Click Pairing for a complete 2- or 4-sensor pack, or Scan Pair for individual sensors.
- Fit each sensor to the wheel position shown in the app.
- Check every position is reading, then set your pressure limits.
Prefer to watch? The quick setup video covers it in two minutes. Towing? See profiles & towing.
How do I fit a sensor to the tyre?
- Remove the valve cap.
- Screw the anti-theft nut onto the valve stem.
- Screw the sensor on by hand until snug. Hand-tight is enough — never use a tool on the sensor itself.
- Hold the sensor and tighten the anti-theft nut back against it with the supplied tool.
A short puff of air while screwing it on is normal. If air keeps escaping after it's fitted, remove it and check the valve before driving.
What pressure and temperature limits should I set?
Use your vehicle's placard pressure (door jamb or fuel flap) for the car, and your caravan or trailer manufacturer's rating for the van — SAVR monitors pressure but doesn't decide the right pressure for your setup. Each profile keeps its own limits, so 35 psi on the car and 70 on the van is no problem. For caravan guidance see what tyre pressure caravans should run.
Why isn't a sensor reading before I fit it?
Sensors sleep until they're screwed onto a pressurised valve. Fitting the sensor wakes it up and it starts sending readings within a few seconds.
Pairing sensors
How do I pair a 2- or 4-sensor pack?
Use One-Click Pairing. In TPMS Connect select One-Click Pairing and scan the pairing QR code card supplied with your pack. All the sensors in that pack are added at once.
How do I add or replace a single sensor?
Use Scan Pair. Select the wheel position in the app, choose Scan Pair, then scan the barcode printed on that sensor.
What's the difference between One-Click Pairing and Scan Pair?
One-Click Pairing adds every sensor from a complete pack in one scan of the QR card. Scan Pair assigns one sensor to one wheel by scanning the barcode on the sensor. The app also supports manual entry and auto-detect — see the four ways to pair video.
Do I pair sensors in my phone's Bluetooth settings?
No. SAVR sensors broadcast their readings rather than pairing like headphones, so they never appear in your phone's Bluetooth device list. Pair them inside TPMS Connect only — just keep Bluetooth on and give the app Bluetooth permission.
I paired the wrong sensor to a wheel
Open that wheel position, choose Scan Pair and scan the correct sensor's barcode. Then make sure the sensor is fitted to the same wheel the app shows.
I've lost my One-Click Pairing QR card
Use Scan Pair on each sensor instead, or contact us with your order number and which pack you have.
Profiles & towing
What is a profile?
A profile is one vehicle you want SAVR to monitor — car, caravan, camper trailer, boat trailer, motorcycle, motorhome or truck. Each profile remembers its own sensors and alert limits.
How should I set up my tow vehicle and caravan?
As two separate profiles — for example "Ranger" and "Jayco". When you're towing, make both Active and the app shows all their wheels together on one dashboard. When you unhitch, make the caravan inactive. It stays saved with its sensors and settings for next trip.
Do I need to pair my caravan sensors every trip?
No. Once a profile is set up, SAVR remembers it. Just make it Active again when you hitch up.
My caravan isn't showing with my car
Open Profiles and check both are set to Active — only active profiles appear on the dashboard.
Can I share sensors with my partner's phone?
Yes. Sensors broadcast to any phone running TPMS Connect. Install the app on the second phone, create the same profile and pair the same sensors — both phones can monitor at once.
The TPMS Connect app
Which app do I use with SAVR sensors?
TPMS Connect by SAVR, free on the App Store and Google Play. It's the app for all SAVR sensors and all Safety Sam sensors.
Which phones are supported?
Any recent iPhone or Android phone with Bluetooth. No internet connection is needed while driving — the sensors talk directly to your phone.
Which permissions does the app need, and why?
- Bluetooth — to receive readings from your sensors.
- Notifications — so alerts reach you while driving.
- Camera — to scan pairing QR codes and sensor barcodes.
- Location (Android only) — Android requires it for Bluetooth scanning. SAVR never records or transmits your location.
Does the app work when my phone is locked or in the background?
Yes. You don't need to keep the dashboard open. Make sure Bluetooth is on, notifications are allowed, and the app isn't restricted (iOS: Settings → TPMS Connect → Background App Refresh; Android: exclude TPMS Connect from battery optimisation).
Can I change the units (PSI, bar, kPa, °C/°F)?
Yes, in the app settings. The app also runs in English, French, German and Spanish.
Does SAVR work with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto?
Voice alerts play through your car's speakers via CarPlay or Android Auto, so you hear which tyre needs attention without looking at a screen. Full details: CarPlay and Android Auto.
Can I see pressure history or trends?
Not yet. The app shows live readings and alerts and doesn't store a history. History and trends are on the roadmap.
Alerts
How do TPMS alerts work?
When a tyre goes outside the pressure or temperature limits you've set, the app highlights that tyre and speaks the alert aloud — through your phone or your car stereo. You hear exactly which tyre, and whether it's pressure or heat.
What does a fast-leak alert mean?
Pressure is dropping quickly on that tyre. Pull over safely and check it — this is the alert that catches a puncture before it becomes a blowout.
Why does pressure rise while I'm driving?
Tyres warm up as you drive and the air inside expands, so pressure climbs — that's normal. Manufacturer pressures are cold pressures. One tyre running much hotter than the others on the same axle is worth checking: it can point to under-inflation, a dragging brake or a bearing issue.
Can I turn off or quieten alerts?
You can adjust limits per profile, and control voice alert volume in settings. We'd suggest keeping fast-leak alerts on.
Troubleshooting
A sensor is not reading or shows "no signal"
Work through these in order:
- Make sure the sensor is fitted — it only wakes on a pressurised valve.
- Check it's screwed on snug by hand and the anti-theft nut is tightened against it.
- Check Bluetooth is on and TPMS Connect has Bluetooth permission.
- Open Profiles and confirm the vehicle with that sensor is Active.
- Sensors sleep when parked — drive a short distance or release a little air to wake it.
- Replace the battery (CR1632).
- Re-pair the sensor with Scan Pair.
Still nothing? Contact us — a faulty sensor is covered under warranty.
One sensor works but another doesn't
Your phone and app are talking fine, so it's that sensor. Confirm it's fitted to the wheel position the app shows, it's screwed on fully, and the right sensor is assigned to that position. If the wrong one is assigned, use Scan Pair to fix it.
Caravan or trailer sensors drop out while driving
Sensors have a range of up to about 15 metres to your phone, and a long van, metal chassis or a phone tucked low in the cabin can reduce that. Try mounting your phone higher on the dash or windscreen. Vans up to 25 feet have run without issue. If dropouts continue, check the rear sensor batteries first — a weak battery struggles most at distance.
Readings look wrong or differ from my gauge
Small differences (1–2 PSI) between the sensor and a hand gauge are normal, and pressure changes as tyres warm, so compare under the same conditions. Check your units match (PSI vs bar vs kPa). If one sensor is consistently way out, remove it, check the valve core isn't damaged, and re-fit.
A tyre is losing air after fitting a sensor
Usually the sensor isn't fully seated or the valve core is worn. Remove the sensor, check the core with a valve tool, re-fit the sensor snug (not forced) and check with soapy water. If a sensor's seal is damaged, contact us for a replacement.
Alerts stopped coming through
Check phone Do Not Disturb or Focus modes, confirm the app is allowed to run in the background, and that notification permission is on. On Android, exclude TPMS Connect from battery optimisation.
The app won't scan my QR code or barcode
Check TPMS Connect has camera permission, move into better light, hold the phone steady and a little further away, and make sure the whole code is on screen. If you're adding a single sensor, use Scan Pair, not One-Click Pairing.
I've rotated my tyres — what now?
Either move the sensors back to their original positions, or use Scan Pair to reassign each sensor to its new position. Nothing else changes.
I can't remove a sensor
Loosen the anti-theft nut away from the sensor with the supplied tool first, then unscrew the sensor by hand.
Compatibility
Will SAVR fit my vehicle?
If your tyres have standard Schrader valve stems, yes — that's nearly every car, SUV, ute, 4WD, caravan, camper, trailer, motorhome and motorcycle. Check details on the compatibility page.
Which sensor pack do I need?
- 2 sensors — single-axle trailer or motorcycle
- 4 sensors — car or 4WD, or a tandem-axle trailer
- 6 sensors — car + single-axle van
- 8 sensors — car + tandem-axle van (most popular for touring)
- 10, 12 or 16 sensors — dual-wheel motorhomes, triple axles, multiple trailers or fleets
You can always add sensors later; they all join the same app.
Can I monitor my airbag suspension?
Yes. Airbags use the same Schrader valves as your tyres, so fit a sensor to each airbag and add them to your profile. A slow-leaking airbag shows up long before you'd feel it. Watch how.
Do the sensors work on my spare tyre?
Yes. Many caravanners add a sensor to the spare so they know it's ready before they need it.
Can I use them on dual wheels or inner tyres?
Yes, as long as there's clearance around the valve stem to fit the sensor. Inner duals usually need a valve extension — check with your tyre fitter.
Do I still need my car's built-in TPMS?
Your factory system keeps working as normal. SAVR adds temperature, per-tyre readings, voice alerts and — most importantly — your caravan or trailer, which factory systems can't see.
Will the sensors survive off-road, dust and water?
They're built for Australian touring — sealed against dust and water, and rated for corrugations and heat. Rinse them off after beach or salt exposure. Avoid high-pressure washing directly onto the sensor.
Sensors & batteries
How long do the batteries last and how do I replace them?
Sensors use a standard CR1632 coin cell (any supermarket has them) that lasts 12–24 months depending on use. Unscrew the sensor cap with the fixing tool, swap the battery positive side up, and screw the cap back on firmly. The app warns you well before a sensor goes flat. Two-minute video.
Can I buy extra or replacement sensors?
Yes — add a 2-pack to any existing setup. All SAVR and Safety Sam sensors work together in the same app. Shop sensor packs.
Are the sensors theft-proof?
Each sensor is locked with an anti-theft nut that needs the supplied tool to remove. Keep the tool in your glovebox.
Do I need to remove the sensors to inflate my tyres?
Yes — unscrew the sensor, inflate, screw it back on. It takes seconds and the app picks the sensor back up automatically.
Do sensors need recalibrating?
No. They're factory calibrated and don't drift in normal use.
